As a pet sitter, and owner of a pet sitting business, I am often asked why I became a pet sitter.  The answer is simple. I love animals! I’ve always been taking care of pets and it has evolved into a business for me. It is a business I love and I am passionate about insuring that the pets under our care get only the best.

The Pet Sitter, LLC is also known as The Pet Sitter of Boise. Our business has been successful and growing over the past nine years. As part of our success, we give back to the community. We support many groups, but our favorite is the Idaho Humane Society (IHS).

The purpose of this blog is to explain how we give back to IHS. I will try to outline the ways here.

Financially: We donate in the form of memorial gifts. As pet sitters, we experience loss of the pets we care for.  Unfortunately, it happens on a regular basis. To ease the pain of loss for both the pet owners and ourselves, we find it very comforting to give back to other animals in need. IHS does great work and is a well run organization. We feel privileged to be able to give financially to IHS.

Foster Program:  Several of the sitters, and I foster dogs and cats from IHS. I foster IDAPI (inmate trained) dogs that graduate from the inmate training program, but are not adopted immediately upon graduation. It brings me great joy to be the bridge between graduation and the forever home for a deserving dog and family. It is very rare that I do not have a foster dog staying with me. I have fostered hundreds of dogs over the years.

See Spot Walk Participation: We volunteer at this event and also bring our own dogs.

We encourage everyone to get involved as a volunteer at IHS. Please contact me if you have any questions.
